Your Walmart life insurance claim resource. Here’s everything you need to know.
The Wal Mart Associates’ Health and Welfare Plan (the Plan) is a single, comprehensive employee benefit plan that offers life insurance as well as; medical, dental, vision, critical illness insurance, accident insurance, AD&D, business travel accident insurance, disability and Resources for Living (employee assistance and wellness) coverage to eligible associates and their eligible dependents.
The life insurance portion of Wal-Mart’s employee benefits package offers two selections. One is paid by Wal-Mart, known as Company Paid. The second is paid by the employee, known as Optional Life.
If you have a Company Paid claim, you should file immediately. If you have an Optional Life claim you should contact us before you file your claim. When you file your claim it will be inspected with a lot of scrutiny by the insurance company and just because the policy was issued through a large corporation doesn’t mean the claim will be paid.
The Center for Life Insurance Disputes represents beneficiaries of life insurance claims. If you need our help with a WalMart life insurance claim call us now.
You don’t pay us until your claim is paid. We’ve gotten over $60 million paid to our clients from life insurance claims that at first were denied. (All consultations are free.)
The insurance company will use the same contestability provision for your claim that it uses for all claims. This means, if they find information in the insured’s background, especially medical and legal, that weren’t admitted on the application, they will deny the claim. We make sure that doesn’t happen. The Center for Life Insurance Disputes represents beneficiaries of life insurance claims.
Our team will work for you as your personal representative to assure your claim gets paid. We’ll review the application, the policy, the background, and file the claim with everything in order that you’ll need to avoid a denial and you’ll have your money quickly.
Questions & Answers for Walmart Life Insurance Claims:
Is Company Paid life insurance different than Optional Life insurance?
Yes, here’s how they’re different.
Company Paid: $50,000 is the maximum death benefit. There’s no cash value. Wal-Mart pays one-hundred percent of the premiums. There’s no health or medical qualification, it’s automatically guaranteed coverage regardless of health history.
Optional Life: $25,000 is the minimum death benefit for employees who are paid hourly. The maximum death benefit is $200,000 for hourly employees. For management/salaried employees the minimum is benefit is $25,000 and the maximum is $1,000,000. All policies are term insurance and have no cash value. Each employee completes an application before being approved for coverage and is subject to underwriting guidelines. These policies can be denied under contestability provisions, in the event of the insured’s death.
Why would your Walmart Life Insurance claim get denied?
Some of the more common reasons a life insurance claim can be denied are Suicide, Overdose, DUI, or drunk driving? But it’s not the cause of death that may lead to a claim denial, it’s also the application the employee completed when they signed up for the coverage that leads to many denials.
The insurance company will go back, prior to the application and get medical records, legal records, income information, and anything else it believes is relevant to the claim. They’ll scrutinize this information for any omission on the application. So, even if the insured died of cancer, if they didn’t disclose treatments for alcohol abuse on the application, the claim can be denied. The cause of death is not always the reason a claim gets denied.
If you have a Wal Mart Optional Life claim, call us now, before you file the claim, to be sure your claim isn’t denied.
If the death was an accident am I entitled to a double benefit?
Wal mart offers a separate Accidental Death and Dismemberment policy. There are several ways in which someone is eligible for benefits from this policy. One way is when the insured’s death is caused by an accident. The second way is from the loss of limb, sight, speech, hearing or paralysis due to an accident. In other words, you don’t have to die to receive claim money.
Coverage is not automatic. Employees must enroll in this coverage and the benefits vary from $25,000 minimum to $200,000 maximum. But before a benefit is paid the insurer will cross-check the cause of the death against a list of exclusions. Exclusions are factors that are related to the death but are not covered, even if the cause of the death is an accident.
If you have Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage with Wal-Mart we strongly recommend you consult with us prior to filing any claim as these claims can be very difficult to collect.
What if the beneficiary is divorced? What if the beneficiary is an ex-spouse? What if I wasn’t married to the insured?
It doesn’t matter. Wal Mart states, It’s important to update your beneficiary information annually. Keep in mind, proceeds will go to whomever is listed on your beneficiary form with Walmart, regardless of your current relationship with that person. You can change your beneficiary(ies) at any time on the web.

Children in equal shares; if not surviving, then 3. Parents in equal shares; if not surviving, then 4. Siblings in equal shares; if not surviving, then 5. Executor or administrator of your estate.
